Kolkata, May 12 -- BJP's Rajya Sabha MP, Rahul Sinha, on Tuesday, alleged that a section of Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers was impersonating as BJP supporters by wearing saffron scarves to extort money, but this will be dealt with in a strong way.
"Our party has urged the police administration to take action against those who will try to extort money and indulge in the practice of 'cut money' without seeing the party colour," Sinha said during a Press conference at the BJP party office. He also alleged that the erstwhile TMC government had hatched a conspiracy to disturb the state by allowing infiltrators.
"TMC is now attempting to incite the Muslim community, but whoever is hatching a conspiracy will be strongly dealt with," Sinha said.
"We want a Bengal which is free from violence. Had the BJP not persuaded to maintain peace after the results of the 2026 Assembly polls, around 1,000 TMC workers would have been killed and houses of 1,000 TMC workers would have been torched," Sinha added. He also said that after the 2021 Assembly elections, the houses of BJP workers were burnt down. The BJP workers who were displaced in 2021 have come back home after this election, Sinha maintained.
"People of Bengal who were in other states came back here during elections for the first time to cast their votes. People of the state living outside the state realised how important it is to bring a change this time in the state.
Corruption in the state during the erstwhile TMC government had touched an all time low.
The people of Bengal democratically ousted the TMC government and brought the change," Sinha maintained.
