Lucknow, Aug. 4 -- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the preliminary report of the Special Investigation Team probing the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya had found no involvement of any sadhu or saint.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Monsoon Session of the state legislature, the Chief Minister said the SIT's initial findings did not indicate the role of any religious leader in the alleged misappropriation of temple offerings.
"No involvement of any sadhu or saint has been found in the SIT's initial report in the case related to the alleged embezzlement of offerings at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple," Adityanath said.
The Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party and the opposition over the issue, accusing them of attempting to politicise the matter. He described their conduct as "undemocratic and unconstitutional" and alleged that it hurt public sentiments.
"This conduct by the Samajwadi Party and the opposition is undemocratic and unconstitutional. It is also an insult to the sentiments associated with Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar," he said.
Escalating his criticism, Adityanath accused the previous Samajwadi Party government of failing to protect Ayodhya's sanctity.
"It was the Samajwadi Party government that committed the sin of staining the lanes of Shri Ayodhya Dham and the sacred flow of the Saryu with blood," he said.
