Maligaon, April 20 -- The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recorded notable progress in track modernisation, maintenance and safety during 2025-26, setting new internal benchmarks and boosting efficiency.

A key highlight was the expanded use of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing, with 53,544 welds inspected to enhance track reliability. NFR achieved a record 457 Complete Track Renewal units, while rail and sleeper renewals reached 449.42 km and 465.02 km respectively.

Track stability improved with 9.57 lakh cubic metres of ballast. Track fittings renewal exceeded targets, and 4,312 points were tamped. mpost
