Addressing the gathering, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal emphasised that the initiative was not merely an environmental effort but also a tribute to motherhood and a step towards strengthening women's role in society. Participants planted saplings in the name of their mothers, symbolising an emotional connect with the campaign's message. According to officials, nearly 200 Ashoka (Pendula) trees and over 500 shrubs were planted during the programme. The park at Tilak Marg will now be developed and known as 'Nari Shakti Vandan', envisioned as a dedicated space celebrating women's empowerment and contribution to society. Chahal noted that the campaign, inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is being conducted regularly to encourage mass participation. He added that citizens involved in plantation activities would be invited in the future to monitor the growth and upkeep of the saplings, ensuring long-term impact. The initiative reflects NDMC's broader approach of integrating environmental sustainability with social messaging, as civic authorities seek to foster greater public engagement in building a cleaner and greener Capital.
