New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday honoured 13 teachers with the "NDMC Teachers' Award 2026" for their contribution to improving the quality of education and the overall development of students.
The awards were presented by NDMC Chairperson Manoj Kumar Dwivedi at a Teachers' Day ceremony held at Navyug School in Sarojini Nagar. The awardees included eight teachers from Atal Adarsh Vidyalayas and five from Navyug Schools.
The recipients were recognised for their dedication, professional commitment, innovative approaches and efforts towards academic and holistic development of students. Each teacher was presented a citation, shield, shawl and a cash prize of Rs 15,000.
Addressing the gathering, Dwivedi said teachers had a role that extended beyond classroom instruction and academic performance. "Education is not only confined to marks, examinations or medals," he said, emphasising the importance of values, empathy, discipline, social skills and a responsible approach towards life.
He urged teachers to make continuous learning part of their routine and suggested that they record at least one new learning every day for a year.
