Cooch Behar, April 19 -- Member of Parliament and senior Trinamool Congress leader Saayoni Ghosh launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party while addressing public rallies in Cooch Behar on Sunday.
Ghosh campaigned in support of party candidates Abhijit De Bhowmick for the Cooch Behar South Assembly constituency and Partha Pratim Roy for the Cooch Behar North Assembly constituency. A public meeting was held at Magh Pala under the Cooch Behar South constituency, where Bhowmick was present among other party leaders. Addressing the gathering, Ghosh criticised the BJP's promise of introducing "Annapurna Bhandar" schemes, alleging that the Centre had withheld funds meant for the state. She contrasted this with the state government's continuation of welfare initiatives like the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Taking a swipe at the BJP, she accused the party of making pre-election promises without delivering on the ground. "They appear only during elections," she said, urging voters to remain cautious.
Following the rally, Ghosh participated in a roadshow in the Baneshwar area in support of Partha Pratim Roy, drawing significant local participation.
