Bhopal, Sept. 17 -- The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday launched a month-long drive to provide free registration of private properties to nearly 50 lakh rural property owners, while 3.55 crore diyas were lit across the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.
The Swamitva Adhikar Abhilekh Nispadan evam Panjiyan-2026 initiative was launched in Indore by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in the presence of BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Deputy CM Jagdish Devda and State minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. The state government said the campaign would cover more than 41,000 villages, with around Rs 4,000 crore being spent to facilitate free registration.
Nearly 68 lakh property rights records have been prepared so far, including about 50 lakh for private properties. Yadav said the initiative would provide rural families with legally recognised ownership documents and help them access loans for housing, business, agriculture and other economic activities.
Registration camps will be held at the village and panchayat levels in three phases - September 17-19, September 24-26 and October 1-3. The process will involve land linking and e-KYC through Samagra IDs, with execution and registration carried out through the 'Sara' and 'Sampada' applications. Registered deeds will subsequently be sent to beneficiaries through WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, the state marked Modi's birthday with the launch of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, under which 3.55 crore diyas were illuminated simultaneously at 845 iconic locations across Madhya Pradesh. In Ujjain, participants also arranged and lit diyas in the shape of PM Modi's portrait, adding a symbolic visual element to the birthday celebrations. Ujjain recorded the biggest event, with 33.27 lakh diyas lit at the Shipra ghats and Mahakal Lok. More than 25,000 volunteers, along with devotees and citizens, participated in the event.
