Kolkata, Aug. 31 -- The Merlin Group recently inaugurated the second Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (YSCE) in Kolkata at YSCE Club Arena on Basanti Road, Bantalla, with former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh attending the event virtually.
The academy, set up in partnership with Merlin Group, aims to provide professional cricket coaching and player development opportunities to young cricketers from Bengal and eastern India.
The Club Arena campus features a 10,000 sq ft indoor, air-conditioned sports arena and a 30,000 sq ft outdoor sports ground. It also has fitness facilities, residential accommodation, a restaurant and cafe, and infrastructure for coaching programmes, tournaments and sporting events.
The first YSCE in eastern India was established at Merlin Rise-The Sports Republic in Rajarhat in 2023 and has since trained around 600 students.
Speaking virtually at the inauguration, Yuvraj said the response to the new academy's trials reflected the passion for cricket in Bengal and expressed hope that the centre would help more young players develop their skills. Merlin Group managing director Saket Mohta said the academy would provide young talent with access to professional coaching and world-class sporting infrastructure.
