India, June 27 -- Delhi sizzled under bright sun and clear skies on Friday with the maximum temperature recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius, 4.3 notches above normal, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for thunderstorm late in the day. Station-wise data showed that Palam logged 41.3 degrees Celsius, 3.7 notches above normal, Lodhi Road recorded 40.8 degrees Celsius, 3.8 notches above normal, the Ridge recorded 41.9 degrees Celsius, 3.2 notches above normal, and Ayanagar saw a maximum 40 degrees Celsius, 0.8 notches above normal. The IMD has forecast thunderstorm accompanied by very light to light rainfall during Friday evening and night. Similar conditions, with thunderstorms and rainfall, are expected on Saturday. Palam recorded a minimum of 27.5 degrees Celsius, 0.5 notch below normal, while Lodhi Road logged 27.4 degrees Celsius, 0.4 notch above normal. The Ridge recorded 26.6 degrees Celsius, normal for the season, and Ayanagar registered 27 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notch below normal. Delhi's air quality remained in 'moderate' category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 131 in the evening, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. As per the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
