India, Aug. 4 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) Hindu Rao Hospital on Monday inaugurated a range of upgraded medical facilities and advanced equipment, aimed at strengthening emergency care, diagnostics and specialised treatment. Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi inaugurated the facilities at a ceremony attended by Deputy Mayor Monica Pant, Standing Committee chairperson Satya Sharma, MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar, senior officials, doctors and public representatives. The upgrades include a renovated Casualty Department, Dharamshala and Physiotherapy Block, an integrated blood sample collection centre and advanced ophthalmology equipment. Among the newly commissioned equipment are Optical Coherence Tomography, Visual Field Analyser, Fundus Camera, Phacoemulsification Machine, Non-Contact Tonometer, Cryoablator, Advanced 4K Laparoscope and Pneumatic Lithotripter. A modern labour room, paediatric spirometer, cardiotocography (CTG) equipment and a gym in the Physiotherapy Department were also inaugurated. The ceremony also marked 25 years of the hospital's Diplomate of National Board (DNB) programme, which began in 2001 with 21 seats across eight specialities. It now has 51 accredited seats across 10 specialities, with 71 faculty members involved in medical education and training. Wahi said the upgraded facilities would strengthen the capacity of MCD hospitals to provide quality treatment free of cost. He urged doctors and staff to ensure that patients receive compassionate and respectful care. The hospital administration said the new infrastructure would improve access to specialised treatment and strengthen Hindu Rao Hospital's role in healthcare and medical education.
