India, July 30 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday intensified its crackdown on unauthorised construction, demolishing 14 illegally constructed properties and sealing another during an enforcement drive carried out across the city. According to the civic body, the action was taken by the Building Department under the provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act against structures found to be in violation of sanctioned building norms. In addition to the demolition and sealing operations, the MCD issued 16 show cause notices to property owners, initiating legal proceedings against alleged unauthorised construction. The corporation said the latest action forms part of its ongoing campaign to curb illegal construction and ensure compliance with municipal regulations. Since June 1, 2026, the MCD has demolished 681 unauthorised properties and sealed 398 properties across its various zones. The MCD said unauthorised construction endangers public safety and violates building norms, urging residents to obtain approvals and warning that strict enforcement would continue against violators.
