New Delhi, May 24 -- The Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) has intensified its citywide "Dust-Free Roads" and special sanitation campaign across all 12 zones as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aiming
to improve urban cleanliness and reduce dust pollution in the Capital.
The civic body has deployed mechanised road sweeping machines, water sprinklers, jetting machines and sanitation workers on major roads and public spaces to strengthen dust-control measures and maintain cleanliness standards.
In the Karol Bagh zone, a 15-day "Dust-Free Roads" campaign launched on May 18 covered key stretches including Girdhari Lal Goswami Marg, Vande Mataram Marg, Shankar Road, Rani Jhansi Road, D.B. Gupta Road and
Najafgarh Road. According to MCD officials, nearly 15.2 km of roads were cleaned by May 21, with around 20.8 metric tonnes of dust and 9.2 metric tonnes of waste removed during the operation.
Similar drives were undertaken in the South Zone on major arterial roads such as Dhaula Kuan AIIMS stretch, Nelson Mandela Marg, Aurobindo Marg and Africa Avenue. Civic authorities deployed 100-150 sanitation workers along with mechanised equipment across an area of nearly 8-10 sq km, removing over 20 metric tonnes of dust and waste. Special sanitation campaigns were also conducted in City SP Zone, Rohini and West Zone, where cleaning of roads, footpaths, green belts and public utility areas was carried out using anti-smog guns and mechanised cleaning systems.
The MCD said it would continue regular monitoring and public participation initiatives to ensure a cleaner, dust-free and healthier urban environment across Delhi.
