New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday flagged off 12 truck-mounted multi-purpose vehicles equipped with anti-smog guns, water sprinklers and jetting systems to strengthen dust suppression, road cleaning and sanitation across the city.

Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi flagged off the vehicles from the Dr S.P.M. Civic Centre, the MCD headquarters. Each vehicle has a water tank capacity of 7,000 litres and is designed to undertake multiple civic maintenance activities, including road washing, drain jetting and cleaning of public toilets.

According to the MCD, the vehicles will help control airborne dust particles generated by road dust, construction activities and other sources. Their jetting systems will also be used to clear blockages in small covered drains and culverts, while washing guns will facilitate the cleaning of public toilets and other public spaces. The vehicles have been procured at a cost of Rs 35.06 lakh each and have an estimated service life of 15 years. The civic body said they would be operated under an operation and maintenance model to ensure regular upkeep and efficient utilisation.
