New Delhi, Sept. 14 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday carried out 40 demolition actions and sealed eight properties across all 12 zones as part of an intensified enforcement drive against dangerous buildings, unauthorised constructions and violations of the Master Plan of Delhi and Building Bye-Laws.
The civic body also passed 14 demolition orders against properties found to be in violation of applicable building norms and regulations.
The action came a day after the MCD demolished 11 properties and sealed four others during a similar enforcement exercise.
Major demolition actions on Monday were carried out at T.C. Camp, Block-T, Pandav Nagar; East Patel Nagar; Regharpura in Karol Bagh; Mata Rameshwari in Nehru Nagar; and Naraina Industrial Area, Phase-I.
In the East Zone, enforcement action was undertaken in East Vinod Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase-II, Raghubarpura and Dharampura in Gandhi Nagar. Demolition action was also carried out in Malka Ganj in the North Zone. Meanwhile, the civic body is conducting a comprehensive survey of paying guest (PG) accommodation buildings across Delhi to assess compliance with building norms and other statutory requirements.
According to the MCD, around 2,453 buildings where PG facilities are operational have so far been identified. The ongoing survey is aimed at creating a database of such properties and assessing their compliance before deciding on further action.
The MCD said the field survey and inspection exercise would continue across the city as part of its efforts to enforce building regulations and address violations.
