New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Sunday conducted cleanliness, plantation and public awareness drives across several parts of the city, with a major campaign held around the Red Fort and Angoori Bagh in the Old Delhi Zone. The cleanliness drive, organised in collaboration with Vrikshit Foundation, saw nearly 400 volunteers participate. MCD teams and volunteers carried out sanitation activities at the Red Fort and adjoining areas, with the waste collected during the drive removed through around 10 auto-tippers.
A separate cleanliness and plantation drive was also held at Angoori Bagh Park near the Red Fort, aimed at improving the surroundings and increasing green cover. Officials also used the campaign to sensitise citizens and tourists about responsible waste disposal and keeping heritage and public spaces clean.
The drive was conducted under the guidance of Kanika, Deputy Commissioner, Old Delhi Zone. Councillor Suman Kumar Gupta also participated and appealed to residents and visitors to avoid littering and cooperate with the civic body.
Meanwhile, sanitation teams in the East Zone carried out deep cleaning along Swami Dayanand Marg. In the North Zone, special sanitation drives were conducted.
