Malda, Sept. 7 -- Police and the Special Task Force (STF) made two separate drug seizures in Malda, arresting four persons and recovering more than 5 kg of suspected brown sugar and 499 grams of MDMA.
In the first operation, Gazole police arrested three men late Sunday night after intercepting a 16-wheeler truck travelling from Siliguri towards Raiganj. Acting on a tip-off, officers from Gazole and Bamangola police stations jointly stopped the vehicle and searched its cabin. A backpack containing more than 5 kg of suspected brown sugar was recovered. The arrested persons were identified as Sahedul Rahman, Nefaoul Rahman and Ziaul Haque, aged between 27 and 47. Sahedul is a resident of Sujapur.
In another operation, STF personnel raided the PTS More area under Baishnabnagar police station early Monday following secret information and seized 499 grams of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine). A 29-year-old youth, Monirul Haque of Shahabazpur Baman Tola in Kaliachak, was arrested.
