Kolkata, June 21 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said maritime strength is crucial for India's emergence as a global power while commissioning three indigenously built naval platforms - stealth frigate Dunagiri, survey vessel Sanshodhak and anti-submarine warfare craft Agray - at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata. Highlighting self-reliance in defence manufacturing, Modi said India is expanding its naval capabilities through indigenous production. He noted that over 40 warships and submarines have joined the Navy in recent years, with 45 more under construction. The vessels were built by GRSE with over 75 per cent indigenous content.
