India, Aug. 17 -- A 25-year-old delivery worker from Bihar died after a sharp Chinese manjha allegedly got entangled around his neck while he was riding a motorcycle on NH-9 with a friend on Saturday evening. The incident took place in the Kaushambi police station area as the two were travelling from Noida towards Ghazipur in Delhi. The deceased, Raviraj, was a native of Khagaria in Bihar and lived in rented accommodation in Behlampur, Sector 63, Noida. He worked as an online delivery worker. According to police, Raviraj was riding the motorcycle while his friend Naresh was seated behind him. The two had travelled from Noida and entered NH-9 from the Sector 43 cut. Near the highway the manjha suddenly became entangled around Raviraj's neck. The motorcycle was moving at speed when the sharp string caused a deep cut to his neck. Raviraj began bleeding heavily, his friend managed to control the motorcycle and seek help. The disturbing footage shows Raviraj on the highway after sustaining the injury, while his friend and other people gathered around him and tried to provide assistance. People can be seen attempting to support his injured neck and control the heavy bleeding. A cloth was tied around his neck in an effort to stem the bleeding until police and medical help arrived. Kaushambi police rushed Raviraj to Max Hospital in Vaishali where doctors declared him dead after examination. ACP Indirapuram Suryabali Maurya also reached the hospital after being informed about the incident. Doctors that Raviraj had suffered a wound around 5cm deep on his neck and that the injury had also damaged the underlying bone. His family later took the body to Noida and reportedly declined a post-mortem examination. "The incident is being investigated. We are also trying to ascertain the source of the Chinese manjha involved in the incident. Further action will be taken based on the findings," Maurya said.
