Kolkata, Oct. 12 -- The Mamata All India Trinamool Congress (MAITC) on Monday questioned the BJP government over women's and minors' safety following the alleged assault and sexual harassment of a 21-year-old woman in East Burdwan district.

"Before election: Bhorsha In, Bhoy Out. After winning election: BHORSHA OUT, BHOY IN," the party wrote on social media.

"This is the true nature of governance under @BJP4Bengal - be it women or minors - NO ONE IS SAFE," the party alleged, questioning why such incidents were increasing and what the administration was doing to address atrocities against women and minors. "WHEN WILL THIS END?" the party asked.

According to the complaint, the woman was cycling home under Purbasthali P.S limits when two motorcycle-borne men overtook her. One allegedly grabbed her and covered her face. When she tried to escape, they pulled at her bicycle, causing her to fall. The men allegedly continued to pursue her, forcing her to seek shelter in a nearby house. She later received medical treatment for her injuries.

The complaint alleged that police initially refused to register an FIR and kept the survivor and her parents at the station for hours. Purbasthali police eventually registered a case at around 11.45 pm on October 11.
