India, July 2 -- Police on Wednesday arrested the main accused in the alleged murder of a 16-year-old Class 10 student, who died after being brutally assaulted following a minor road accident in Loni earlier this week. The second accused remains absconding, and three police teams have been formed to trace him. The accused, Rahul, a resident of Tila Shahbazpur village, was arrested near the Behta pipeline area, police said. An FIR was registered at the Loni Border police station on a complaint lodged by the victim's elder brother, Shakir, against Rahul and an unidentified accomplice. DCP (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said multiple teams are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused. "The investigation is progressing, and efforts are underway to ensure all those involved are brought to justice," he said. While returning, their motorcycle allegedly brushed against a blue car on the Behta Hajipur canal road. Enraged over the minor collision, the car driver allegedly stopped the boys, slapped Zaid repeatedly, forced him into the vehicle and took him to a nearby property dealer's office. The victim's friends followed the car to the office, where they allegedly found Rahul and another man abusing Zaid. By then, the teenager was lying unconscious on the floor. The accused allegedly threatened the two boys with dire consequences and ordered them to take their friend away. Unable to get any help, the boys took Zaid out of the office and, with the assistance of an e-rickshaw, brought him home. His family rushed him to Delhi's Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Following a post-mortem examination on Tuesday, the body was handed over to the family and buried at a cemetery in Mustafabad Colony. Police said the investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected.
