Noida, Aug. 5 -- A 40-year-old Joint Director with the Lok Sabha Secretariat was allegedly found dead by suicide at his residence in Kendriya Vihar-2 Society in Sector 82, Noida, with police saying a 15-page handwritten note recovered from the house indicated that he had been under severe financial stress due to debts of nearly Rs 70 lakh.

The incident came to light on Sunday evening after the official's wife, who had been staying at her parents' home in Delhi for the previous two days, was unable to contact him despite making repeated phone calls. Worried by the lack of response, she returned to Noida. After receiving no response despite repeatedly knocking on the door, she sought help from the society's security staff. The door was subsequently forced open, and the official was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the apartment.

Police were informed and reached the spot, taking the body into custody and sending it for a post-mortem examination. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.

The deceased was serving as a Joint Director in the Reporting Branch of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. Police said the couple's eight-year-old son was staying with his mother in Delhi at the time of the incident.

During the investigation, officers recovered a 15-page handwritten note from a personal diary kept at the residence. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Swatantra Singh said the note did not hold any individual responsible for the death.

Instead, it referred to financial liabilities of nearly Rs 70 lakh that had accumulated over the years and described the stress caused by the debt.

According to the officer, the note also contained deeply personal reflections. The official reportedly wrote that he had failed to be a good husband and father and apologised to his wife for not listening to her advice. Investigators are examining the note as part of the ongoing probe.

Police said no evidence of foul play has been found so far. Further investigation is underway to complete the necessary legal formalities and verify all aspects of the case.
