India, Aug. 19 -- The Delhi government will begin distributing official pension letters to eligible beneficiaries of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana from August 26, with the monthly financial assistance set to be credited directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts from September 1, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday. Reviewing the scheme's implementation at the Delhi Secretariat, Gupta directed district-level committees to expedite verification of applications while ensuring thorough scrutiny to prevent ineligible claims. She also said the government would introduce a correction facility on the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal to allow applicants to rectify incorrect or incomplete information. The Chief Minister said nearly eight lakh women had registered on the portal within 18 days of the scheme's launch, while over five lakh applications had been finally submitted. "The unprecedented support received from women in such a short period is historic," Gupta said, adding that the response reflected growing trust in the government's women empowerment initiative.
