India, July 13 -- A 55-year-old labourer died after falling from the fourth floor of an under-construction building when a roof projection collapsed in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar, prompting police to register a case against the building owner and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to order the premises sealed. According to police, a PCR call reporting the incident was received at Tilak Nagar Police Station at around 3 pm on July 10. A police team rushed to Gali No. 3, Krishna Puri, where they learnt that the injured labourer, identified as Md. Bhola, had already been taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. He was later referred to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Preliminary investigation revealed that Bhola was carrying out construction work on the fourth floor when a portion of the roof projection (chajja) suddenly collapsed, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain fatal injuries. The Crime Team inspected the site and documented the scene as part of the investigation. Based on the statement of a co-worker, an FIR was registered against the building owner, Om Prakash Kataria, a resident of the same address, under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said details of the incident, along with photographs of the under-construction building, were shared with the MCD, following which the civic body ordered the premises to be sealed.
