New Delhi, Sept. 3 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Wednesday directed the Capital's state universities to focus on making students genuinely employable by strengthening training in Artificial Intelligence, cyber security and other emerging technologies. He also called for greater international collaborations and asked universities to align research with Delhi-specific challenges.
Sandhu chaired a review meeting with Vice Chancellors, Directors and Registrars of Delhi's state universities, of which he is Chancellor. The meeting followed an earlier review on May 12 and assessed compliance with directions issued then.
Representatives of IGDTUW, Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi Teachers University, IIIT, DPSRU, DTU, DSEU, NSUT and GGSIU attended the meeting.
The L-G reviewed skilling, outreach and student startup initiatives, stressing that graduates should have skills beyond a degree. He also directed universities to strengthen placements, mentorship and grievance redressal mechanisms, while reviewing NAAC and NIRF rankings and seeking corrective measures where performance had declined.
NCC, NSS units asked to support civic duties, while universities told to expedite staff recruitment and improve infrastructure.
