New Delhi, Sept. 14 -- Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Monday congratulated Delhi Police for their "exemplary professionalism and dedication" in ensuring seamless security and coordination during the 18th BRICS Summit in Delhi that concluded yesterday.

Commissioner of Police Anurag Kumar called on Sandhu at Lok Niwas, said a post of LG office on X.

"The L-G congratulated him and the entire Delhi Police team for their exemplary professionalism and dedication in ensuring seamless security and coordination during the 18th BRICS Summit in Delhi," it said.

The commitment of city police ensured Delhi hosted the global gathering "smoothly, safely and with pride", it added.

Around 15,000 Delhi Police personnel, 200 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 500 CCTV cameras across Delhi were deployed as part of security arrangements for the event that was participated by top global leaders. Arrangements were put in place to ensure maximum security for the visiting dignitaries while causing minimum inconvenience to the public, officials had said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and other leaders attended the two-day Summit on September 12-13. Police managed traffic and security at the venue, airport, hotels and other locations.
