India, July 31 -- Activist Umar Khalid has approached the Delhi High Court seeking bail in the UAPA case concerning the alleged "larger conspiracy" behind the February 2020 northeast Delhi riots. His plea challenging a trial court's July 4 decision is listed before Justices Prathiba M Singh and Vikas Mahajan on Friday. Khalid, arrested in September 2020, was booked under UAPA in the case, which is being investigated by the Delhi Police Special Cell. The riots left 53 people dead and over 700 injured.
