
Kolkata, Aug. 28 -- Jadavpur University kept gates 2, 3, 4 and 5 closed on Friday as Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari attended a programme to sing 'Vande Mataram' near the Jadavpur 8B bus stand. Gate 1 remained open for students, teachers, employees and campus residents.
According to a notice issued by the registrar, the four gates remained closed from 1 pm to 7 pm as Raja Subodh Chandra Mallick Road was closed to traffic from 1 pm to 6 pm in connection with the programme. Meanwhile, separate delegations of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) met Governor and university Chancellor R N Ravi at Lok Bhavan over recent incidents and alleged irregularities at the university.
The ABVP sought a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in PhD admissions and an inquiry into alleged anti-national activities, among others.
