Siliguri, Sept. 29 -- Two persons were arrested after journalists were allegedly assaulted while covering an Enforcement Branch raid at a rice godown in Khalpara, Siliguri, on Monday evening. The raid was conducted following allegations that counterfeit rice was being sold using the names of reputed brands.
Warehouse owners, identified as Vishnu Bansal and Vivek Bansal, allegedly attacked journalists who reached the spot to cover the operation. Two journalists reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.
Both accused were later arrested and taken to Siliguri police station. On Tuesday, members of the Siliguri Journalists' Club staged a protest condemning the incident. Both accused were produced at the Siliguri Court on Tuesday.
