New Delhi, Sept. 29 -- Around 1,000 students gathered at Jawaharlal Nehru University to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, responding to a call by the JNU Students' Union.
The gathering highlighted Bhagat Singh's legacy of questioning authority, opposing injustice and advocating equality, freedom and social justice. Students also invoked the contributions of fellow revolutionaries Rajguru and Sukhdev during the programme. According to the JNUSU, the event was held against the backdrop of what it described as growing threats to democratic institutions, public education and the rights of marginalised communities.
