
New Delhi/Ranchi, July 10 -- Jharkhand showcased its tourism and investment potential during the second day of the National Stakeholders' Consultation 2026 at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi, where policymakers, industry leaders and tourism experts discussed strategies to position the state as a leading tourism destination.
The session, titled "Destination Jharkhand: Driving Tourism Investment and Inclusive Development," highlighted that the state recorded 5.85 crore tourist visits in 2024, including 4.4 crore pilgrim visits, underscoring its growing appeal.
The government said granting industry status to tourism has opened avenues for private investment, institutional finance and infrastructure development.
Jharkhand is promoting religious, eco, wildlife, adventure, mining and tribal tourism, backed by the proposed Tourism Policy 2026, Homestay Policy 2026, digital single-window registration and investor-friendly reforms. Investment opportunities have been identified in hotels, resorts, ropeways, skywalks, water sports, floating restaurants, houseboats, camping sites and experiential tourism projects.
Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar said Jharkhand aims to be known not only for its mineral wealth but also for its natural beauty.
He said the proposed Homestay Policy would generate large-scale rural employment and help establish the state as a leading homestay destination.
The minister said the government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, was promoting Jharkhand's cultural, spiritual and natural heritage nationwide and assured investors of a conducive business environment.
