New Delhi, July 9 -- After two years, Bengali superstar Jeet is finally set to return to the big screen. The last time audiences saw him was in 'Boomerang' in 2024. Now, the actor has finally locked a release date for his much-awaited Bengali film, 'Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat'. Based on the life of Indian revolutionary Ananta Singh, the film is slated to hit theatres on August 14, during the Independence Day weekend.
What makes the announcement even more exciting is that superstar-turned-politician Dev was also expected to release his much-awaited film 'Bike Ambulance Dada', based on a real-life story, during the same weekend. However, with Dev postponing his film, Bengali cinema has managed to avoid one of its biggest box-office clashes.
The release date clash had been a major talking point in Tollywood. Last year, the much-discussed release calendar prepared by the screening committee during the TMC regime had complicated matters, with both superstars eyeing an Independence Day release. However, Dev has now announced that 'Bike Ambulance Dada' has been postponed. Sources say that the Dev-Rukmini Maitra starrer is now likely to hit theatres in December. Moreover, given the buzz surrounding Dev's directorial debut 'DeSu7', in which he is paired opposite actress Subhashree Ganguly, the production house reportedly didn't want any other project to release before 'DeSu7'.
"To ensure 'Bike Ambulance Dada' reaches you in the best possible way, we've decided to postpone its release," posted Dev, who is currently busy hosting the new season of 'Dadagiri' while also directing 'DeSu7'.
Meanwhile, the announcement of Jeet's return to the big screen after two years has left his fans elated. The much-awaited motion poster of 'Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat' was unveiled on Thursday along with the film's release date. Directed by Pathikrrit Basu, the film boasts a stellar cast featuring Jeet, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Priyanka Sarkar, Chandan Sen and Kaushik Sen.
"Though our arrival was delayed, destiny chose the perfect hour. Bringing the legendary saga of Ananta Singh to the silver screen right before Independence Day is a profound honour," said Basu.
Meanwhile, the Bengali film industry has had a difficult first half of the year, with only two films, 'Saptadingar Guptodhon' and 'Vijaynagar'er Hirey', making an impact at the box office. 'Saptadingar Guptodhon' remains the highest-grossing Bengali film of the year so far. The second half of the year, however, promises several big releases, including 'Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat'. The industry will now be hoping that Jeet's return after a two-year hiatus gives the BO the much-needed boost it has been waiting for.
