India, Aug. 20 -- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday urged Japanese companies to make the state their "second industrial home", as the government announced investments worth Rs 3,191 crore in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. Addressing the Uttar Pradesh-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi, Yogi said Japanese firms should go beyond manufacturing and establish technology centres, research and development facilities, skill development institutions and global supply chains in the state. The event, attended by more than 200 Japanese business leaders led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki, featured the virtual groundbreaking of two major projects in YEIDA. Escorts Kubota Ltd will establish a manufacturing facility in Sector 10 on around 154 acres, investing approximately Rs 2,025-2,029 crore and creating around 4,000 jobs. The plant will manufacture about 60,000 tractors annually, besides construction equipment and agricultural machinery. The facilities will produce advanced automotive components, including electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers and wiring systems. Yogi also announced a proposed Japanese City over around 500 acres in Sector 5A, offering integrated industrial, commercial and residential infrastructure for Japanese companies and their employees. He highlighted UP's expressways, airports and industrial corridors, identifying electronics, semiconductors, green hydrogen, solar energy, medical devices and advanced manufacturing as key areas.
