Kolkata, Oct. 8 -- Tension gripped the Sukhobrishti Housing Complex in Action Area III in New Town after the body of an Information Technology (IT) professional was recovered from a locked flat in the wee hours of Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Apala Pradhan, aged about 30 years and was a native of Jamshedpur, working at a prominent IT firm in Kolkata. According to sources, neighbours in Block A of the housing complex noticed they had not seen the woman for the past few days. Her colleagues also found that she was absent from work for the past three days. When her colleagues went to the woman's rented flat at Sukhobrishti Housing Complex, they found no response despite repeated knocks on the door.
Suspecting something unusual, Pradhan's colleagues approached the Techno City Police Station and sought assistance. Acting on the information, police rushed to the spot and broke open the main door. After entering the flat, police found the partially-decomposed body of Pradhan. After sending the body for autopsy, police informed her family in Jamshedpur.
Cops are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death. Meanwhile, police are questioning her colleagues and friends.
