Malda, May 24 -- The newly elected MLA of English Bazar, Amlan Bhaduri, attended a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti at Malda Medical College and Hospital on Saturday, where discussions focused on improving healthcare services and infrastructure at the institution.

The meeting was attended by college principal Prasenjit Bar along with other senior officials of the medical college. Following the meeting, the MLA and hospital authorities inspected various departments of the hospital to assess existing facilities and identify areas requiring immediate attention.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Bhaduri said that Malda Medical College currently ranks fifth among medical colleges in West Bengal and stressed that the administration is determined to elevate it to the top position in the state.

"Our primary goal is to make Malda Medical College and Hospital the number one medical institution in West Bengal through better infrastructure, improved patient care, and advanced medical facilities," Bhaduri said.

One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was the reopening of the long-pending cardiology treatment services at the hospital. The MLA stated that efforts would be initiated at the earliest to restart the facility,

which is expected to benefit patients not only from Malda district but also from neighbouring districts.

"Once the cardiology services are restored, thousands of patients from North Bengal and adjoining areas will receive treatment closer to home," he added. The meeting also focused on improving the hospital's blood bank infrastructure and resolving the recurring waterlogging problem inside the hospital premises during the monsoon season. Principal Prasenjit Bar assured that steps would be taken soon to resume heart treatment services and further strengthen healthcare facilities at the institution.

The meeting has generated fresh optimism among hospital authorities and residents regarding the future development of the medical college.
