Kolkata, Oct. 28 -- Bengal's industrial policy will be announced on November 5, informed Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday. The state Cabinet gave approval to the new industrial policy aimed at attracting large investments, generating employment and simplifying business regulations.

Adhikari said that the industrial policy would be announced at Nabanna Sabhaghar ahead of Diwali in the presence of the local industrialists. Nabanna sources said the policy was cleared after incorporating amendments suggested during an earlier Cabinet meeting. The draft had previously received approval from a group of ministers.

The new policy is expected to focus on three key pillars - land, power and industrial incentives - as the state seeks to strengthen its appeal to investors and accelerate industrial development. Special financial incentives have been proposed for investments exceeding Rs 100 crore, signalling an emphasis on attracting large projects. The government also plans to give fresh impetus to ease of doing business by streamlining approvals and reducing procedural delays. Services such as environmental clearances, land mutation, land-use conversion, trade licences, and building plan approvals are expected to move to a faster, single-window mechanism.
