India, July 3 -- Just over two weeks after commercial operations began at Noida International Airport, IndiGo has expanded its domestic network by adding nine new destinations. The airline now operates flights to 13 cities from the airport, with more routes scheduled to be introduced this month. The newly launched services connect Noida with Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Pantnagar, Bareilly, Lucknow and Chandigarh. Flights to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jammu and Amritsar were already operational. IndiGo's direct service to Navi Mumbai, originally scheduled to begin this week, will now commence on July 10, while flights to Srinagar are expected to start later this month, officials said.
Noida International Airport began commercial passenger operations on June 15, with IndiGo as its launch carrier. The airport is expected to gradually expand its domestic network before international services begin later this year. Officials said the increase in flight operations has led to a rise in passenger footfall. To strengthen last-mile connectivity, around 50 electric buses were deployed on Wednesday from various parts of Noida and Greater Noida to the airport. Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Roadways buses, along with taxi services operated by Mahindra Logistics and other operators, are also available for passengers. Nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia said IndiGo also launched flights to Kishangarh on Thursday. He added that the Chandigarh schedule will be revised from July 13, with flights operating only on Mondays and Tuesdays. Airport officials said aircraft operations have also become more efficient, with flights now using both the eastern and western ends of the runway for take-offs and landings, instead of operating in a single direction. Akasa Air, the second airline operating from Noida International Airport, currently offers flights to Mumbai and Bengaluru.
