New Delhi, Sept. 29 -- Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu unveiled the curtain raiser for Routes Asia 2027 in New Delhi on Tuesday. Routes Asia is set to be held from March 16-18 next year at Bharat Mandapam.
The 24th edition of this global conference on aviation is expected to gather over 115 airlines, representatives from more than 55 countries, airports, tourism boards, and other aviation authorities. The event attracted representatives from 28 embassies. The 2027 edition will be held under the theme "Bharat Aviation Rising: Inclusive Growth - Connecting Asia & Beyond", said the Minister.
India's growing aviation ecosystem offers an opportunity to expand, said minister, while adding that it is poised to witness more carriers and routes. India has over 166 airports at present and will see the emergence of another 100 in the next decade. The minister also emphasized the need to adopt a hub-and-spoke model to connect more cities with new emerging markets and create business opportunities for airlines, boosting tourism.
India took over the responsibility of hosting Routes Asia from China West Airport Group during the closing ceremony of Routes Asia 2026 in Xi'an in April.
Samir Kumar Sinha, Civil Aviation Secretary, spoke about the power of aviation to connect people, create trade, and business opportunities.
