India, Aug. 25 -- Classes at IIT-Delhi were suspended on Monday amid student protests following the alleged suicide of a 31-year-old MSc Physics student, officials said. Protesters demanded an independent probe into alleged administrative lapses, accountability and improved student support systems. They also sought senior officials' resignations, Rs 1-crore compensation for the family, protection from disciplinary action and greater transparency over mental-health protocols. IIT-Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee met protesters, who said some demands had received a positive response, while others remained unresolved.
