New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL), with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), convened a National Policy Dialogue in Mumbai on "Unlocking the Future of Nuclear Power: Enabling Investment, Financing and Bankability".

IIFCL Deputy Managing Director Palash Srivastava, in his welcome address, stressed the need for an enabling financing ecosystem for nuclear power.

TERI Distinguished Fellow Emeritus K Ramanathan highlighted

nuclear power's strategic role in India's energy transition & the government's 100 GW nuclear capacity target by 2047.

IIFCL Managing Director Rohit Rishi said India must "significantly scale up nuclear power", noting its share at around 3 per cent in India against nearly 60 per cent in France & around 18 per cent in Russia & the US. He called for greater private-sector participation and long-term capital.

Chief Guest S.A. Bhardwaj, former Interim CMD, NPCIL, and former Chairmen of the Nuclear Fuel Complex Board and AERB, advocated moving from FOAK to NOAK deployment, supported by risk- and profit-sharing. Manoj Muttathil Ayyappan, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services, called for an appropriate financial architecture for nuclear infrastructure.

Sessions moderated by TERI Senior Director A K Saxena, IIFCL Chief Credit Officer Raj Kumar Ralhan and Chief Strategy Officer Salil Garg examined investment, financing and bankability challenges. Prof. Ravi Madhavan of the University of Pittsburgh made a presentation.
