New Delhi, July 30 -- The Integrated Health & Wellbeing (IHW) Council launched Mission Fertility 2.1 on World IVF Day, calling for fertility care to become more accessible, affordable and dignified for Indian couples. The initiative was unveiled at the 7th India IVF Summit & Awards 2026 along with a white paper recommending reforms in insurance,
public financing, awareness and workplace fertility benefits.
According to the Council, nearly 3.5 crore couples in India face infertility, but only about 42 lakh have access to treatment.
The white paper proposes recognising infertility as a core reproductive health condition, expanding awareness through ASHAs, schools and workplaces, and improving insurance coverage. It also recommends a fertility benefit package under PM-JAY.
The summit concluded with a commitment to translate the recommendations into policy.
