India, Aug. 17 -- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, with a ceremonial police contingent presenting the National Salute. Paying tribute to freedom fighters, Sinha recalled their sacrifices and also mourned civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities this year. He called for collective efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous Jammu Kashmir and a strong nation. Sinha stressed the need for inclusive and balanced growth, women's economic empowerment, youth employment and environmental sustainability. He highlighted initiatives to restore heritage sites, ancient monuments and undertake afforestation drives. He urged citizens to contribute to building a self-reliant Jammu Kashmir and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, while stressing transparency and accountability in governance. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated J&K Police and CAPF personnel who received gallantry medals and praised sportspersons for their achievements. He called upon citizens to serve the nation with greater sincerity and dedication.
