Kolkata, Sept. 21 -- The first day of the Higher Secondary Semester III examinations passed off smoothly across West Bengal on Monday, with one student caught carrying a mobile phone at an examination venue in Howrah district.
The girl was caught with the phone at Panpur Shashibhushan High School around noon, more than an hour after the examination began. Her examination was cancelled and she will not be allowed to appear in the remaining Semester III papers.
The council is looking into how the student entered the venue with the phone despite security checks, including metal detector screening.
