Kolkata, Sept. 28 -- The Calcutta High Court on Monday declined an urgent hearing of Trinamool Congress MLA Kunal Ghosh's plea seeking security after he and his vehicle were allegedly attacked twice within 24 hours.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya admitted Ghosh's petition but directed that it be taken up according to the regular cause list. His counsel, Biswaroop Bhattacharya, had sought immediate hearing, citing the two incidents and Ghosh's position as an elected public representative.
Ghosh approached the court after alleging that his vehicle was attacked at Uttarpara in Hooghly on September 26 while he was travelling to Serampore for a rally addressed by former chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
The Beliaghata MLA alleged that BJP workers were behind the Hooghly incident. On the following day, he claimed that another group followed his vehicle after he left his residence in Kolkata and that some of those people were carrying revolvers.
