India, Aug. 21 -- A 23-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute over Rs 20 in the Shalimar Garden area on Wednesday, with police arresting the main accused after an encounter on Thursday. The accused, identified as Sameer, 25, alias Guddu, suffered a bullet injury to his left leg during the encounter and was admitted to MMG Hospital for treatment, officials said. ACP Shalimar Garden Atul Kumar Singh said a police team was checking suspicious vehicles and people in the area when they spotted Sameer riding a motorcycle. The team signalled him to stop, but he allegedly tried to flee. During the chase, his motorcycle slipped on a pile of garbage, causing him to fall. The police retaliated, injuring him in the leg, and subsequently arrested him. A .315-bore country-made pistol, a live cartridge, an empty cartridge, the knife allegedly used in the murder, a stolen motorcycle, Rs 700 in cash and a packet of tobacco were recovered from his possession, officials said. The murder took place late on Wednesday in Vikram Enclave following an argument over Rs 20. Sameer allegedly attacked Mushtaq with a knife during the dispute. Mushtaq was rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Delhi in a critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police said Sameer has a criminal record, with cases of rioting, attempt to murder, violations under the NDPS Act and murder registered against him. Further investigation is underway.
