
Malda, June 21 -- West Bengal Governor RN Ravi is scheduled to visit Malda on June 23, Tuesday to participate in the commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru. The programme is being organised by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the local Gurudwara Committee and the Sikh community.
Preparations are in full swing at the Gurudwara in the Sarbari area of Ward No. 5 under Old Malda Municipality, as well as at the Kalachand High School ground, where the main function will be held. According to EZCC sources, Governor Ravi will arrive in Malda by Vande Bharat Express and attend the commemorative programme at Kalachand High School ground at around 12 noon.
A 45-minute memorial session focusing on the life, ideals and supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be conducted by six Sikh religious leaders. Scholars and community representatives are also expected to participate in the event.
Following the programme, the Governor will visit the Gurudwara, offer prayers and inspect several historical artefacts associated with Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. A special exhibition highlighting the Guru's life, teachings and contributions has also been organised at the Gurudwara. The exhibition, which began on June 18, will continue until June 24 and has already attracted a large number of students and visitors.
