New Delhi, May 15 -- Intensifying the Delhi Government's "Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan" campaign following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for responsible living and energy conservation, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday held a high-level virtual review meeting with District Magistrates and senior officials, directing strict implementation of fuel-saving measures, regular inspections of public facilities and swift action on civic issues ahead of the monsoon season.
The meeting, conducted through video conferencing from the Delhi Secretariat, was attended by the Divisional Commissioner, all District Magistrates and senior officials from multiple departments. During the review, the Chief Minister stressed the need to reduce fuel and electricity consumption while improving administrative efficiency and public service delivery.
Gupta directed departments to conduct maximum official meetings through online platforms to save "fuel, time and resources". She instructed all departments to ensure at least a 20 per cent reduction in fuel expenses on official vehicles and adopt energy-saving practices in offices. Stressing the importance of the government's "Metro Monday" initiative, she said officials and employees should use Metro and public transport at least once a week "so that a positive message reaches the public". Directions were also issued for effective implementation of "No Vehicle Day" every week.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials to carry out continuous inspections in their respective districts and ensure proper maintenance of Atal Canteens, Arogya Mandirs, fire department offices and other public utility centres. "Common citizens should receive the benefits of government facilities in a timely and organised manner," she said. Reviewing monsoon preparedness, Gupta directed officials to identify waterlogging-prone areas and take preventive action in advance. She ordered that no drains should remain open and dangerous trees be removed immediately to avoid accidents and inconvenience during the rainy season. Officials were also instructed to speed up work related to PNG connections and provide assistance to residents wherever required.
The Chief Minister also asked officials to regularly share updates regarding development works and corrective measures through social media to ensure transparency in governance. Reaffirming the government's commitment to public participation, Gupta said, "The Delhi Government is committed to turning Prime Minister Modi Ji's 'Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan' campaign into a large public movement based on people's participation, and not just a government initiative."
