Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- A GST inspector has been booked for sexual assault and bribery after a woman filed a complaint at the Baguiati Police Station recently. The accused, Dipayan Roy, a resident of the New Barrackpore area is currently on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused GST official.
According to sources, the complainant was in a relationship with Roy. The victim alleged that the accused established physical relations with her at various hotels by repeatedly promising her to formalise their relationship through a legal marriage. The matter escalated when the victim began pressuring Roy to fulfill his promise. The accused reportedly refused to marry her, abruptly severed all contact, and threatened her with dire consequences if she pursued the matter.
The complainant further alleged that Roy attempted to suppress the matter by offering her Rs 30 lakh in cash to drop her grievances and refrain from taking legal action.
