Lucknow, Oct. 8 -- Rising water levels in the Gomti River have triggered a flood-like situation in parts of Lucknow, with water inundating the service lane along Shaheed Path leading towards Phoenix Palassio Mall.
The river level on Wednesday reached 107.24 metres against the danger mark of 108.5 metres, disrupting traffic in Gomti Nagar and adjoining areas.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation stepped up rescue and relief operations, shifting 35 families to safer locations and providing shelters, water tankers and packaged drinking water. Around 90 boats were deployed for rescue and relief work.
Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar inspected affected areas and reviewed sanitation and disease-prevention measures.
