India, July 15 -- The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two alleged members of the Goldy Brar-Lipin Nehra gang and recovered six sophisticated firearms and eight live cartridges, foiling an alleged conspiracy to supply illegal weapons for gang warfare and extortion-related crimes. The accused, identified as Randeep alias Rinku (36) from Jhajjar and Hitesh Kumar (23) from Rewari, Haryana, were arrested following a tip-off received by the Crime Branch. Police said the Anti-Gangster Squad received specific intelligence that gangster Lipin Nehra, allegedly operating from Canada, had instructed his associates through the encrypted Signal application to collect a consignment of illegal firearms from Sardhana in Uttar Pradesh. Also Read - MCD rolls out EduLife 2.0 for schools Acting on the input, a Crime Branch team laid a trap near UER-II at Tajpur in Dwarka on July 7 and intercepted the duo while they were travelling in a Toyota Hilux. The accused allegedly attempted to flee but were overpowered. During the search, police recovered one pistol and four live cartridges from each accused, besides four concealed pistols from a bag inside the vehicle. Investigators said Hitesh was previously arrested in a Rs 1 crore extortion case in Haryana's Pataudi and allegedly supplied victim details to Lipin Nehra. Randeep is also allegedly involved in attempted murder and assault cases. An FIR under the Arms Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the weapons and dismantle the gang's arms supply network. The civic body also released Achievement Chronicle, a book documenting the achievements of its Education Department. The portal was inaugurated by Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi at the Satya Narayan Bansal Auditorium in the Civic Centre. Deputy Mayor Monica Pant, Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma, Leader of the House Jay Bhagwan Yadav, Education Committee Chairperson Yogesh Verma, Vice-Chairperson Amit Kharkhari, MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar, Additional Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Mittal, Director of Education Nikhil Tiwari and senior officials attended the event. Describing the initiative as a step towards technology-enabled governance, Wahi said the portal would help integrate parents into the teaching-learning process while making school administration more efficient and transparent. He added that the initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and supports the Digital India mission by promoting technology-driven education in MCD schools. Leader of the House Jay Bhagwan Yadav urged teachers to adopt the new platform wholeheartedly, saying digital tools would assist in assessing students' academic progress and contribute to their overall development. Education Committee Chairperson Yogesh Verma said the portal would enable parents to monitor students' academic performance, the distribution of mid-day meals and other school-related services. He added that a list of meritorious students studying in MCD schools would also be uploaded on the platform, allowing sports academies and other institutions to identify and support talented students. Officials said EduLife 2.0 is expected to enhance accountability, improve service delivery and accelerate the digital transformation of MCD schools.
