Malda, Oct. 16 -- The brutal murder of a two-year-old boy, Misthar Rahaman, over an alleged family dispute has triggered tension in Gazole, Malda, after the child's body was recovered from inside a house on Friday morning. The child's uncle, Muklesur Rahaman, and aunt, Beauty Khatun, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to family members, the child had been missing since Thursday morning. After failing to trace the child, the family informed Gazole police, who launched an extensive search operation. However, the child remained untraced throughout the day and night.

On Friday morning, the child's body was recovered from inside the house, stuffed into a sack. Family members alleged that the child had been strangled, with plastic material stuffed into the mouth, and the eyes gouged out. The horrifying discovery sparked tension in the locality.

"My brother and sister-in-law brutally killed my child. I want the death penalty for them, and nothing less than that is acceptable," victim's mother Firoza Khatun said.

Police recovered the body and took it to Gazole State General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Superintendent of Police Anupam Singh said both accused have been arrested following the recovery of the body. "During interrogation, Beauty Khatun confessed that, in a fit of anger, she murdered the child by drowning. The two families frequently quarrelled over family disputes. We are investigating the case," the SP said.
